Sun allergy protection for face and body
UV light is the main cause of sun-induced skin damage, but high-energy visible (HEVIS) light can also induce free radicals that cause further stress to skin.
Eucerin Sun Allergy Protect Gel-Cream SPF 50+ is a face and body sunscreen specially developed for sun-sensitive skin and skin prone to sun allergies such as Polymorphus Light Eruption (PLE).
The sunscreen for sun allergies offers very high UV protection: the UVA and UVB filters meet the high standards defined by Cosmetics Europe and the levels of UVA protection are higher than the EU recommendation. Eucerin’s Advanced Spectral Technology combines these broadband and photostable UVA/UVB filters with Licochalcone A to neutralize free radicals caused by UV and HEVIS light It also contains Alpha-Glycosylrutin which helps to prevent sun-induced allergies such as PLE.
Unperfumed, to minimize the risk of skin irritation, the non-greasy and non-sticky gel-cream absorbs quickly and is water-resistant. And, like all sun protection products in the Eucerin range, it is free from octinoxate and oxybenzone – UV filters known to be harmful to coral reefs – and is compliant with the Hawaii Reef Bill.

Clinical and dermatological studies
Clinical and dermatological studies prove very good tolerability on skin prone to sun allergies such as PLE.
Main findings
Among other clinical and dermatological studies, a Product in Use (PiU) study was conducted amongst 133 women aged between 22 and 55 all of whom suffer from skin allergies and are regular users of sun protection products. After five days of using the product on their face and body they reported the following results:

- Provides effective protection from sunburn (99%)
- Effectively prevents sun-induced skin damage (99%)
- Prevents itchiness from sun allergy (98%)
- Reliably protects from sun allergies such as PLE and Mallorca acne (97%)
