UV Filters: Uvinul A Plus, Tinosorb S

Preparation

I applied the sunscreen on my left arm, wait for 20 mins and take a photo using UV camera (Sunscreenr).

Rub Test

I just got curious what would happen if I accidentally rub it so I ran my index finger across with pressure, as you can see the layer is disturbed (highlighted in dotted square)

Removal

Well, obviously, this is not a water resistant sunscreen, but again, just out of curiosity I tried gently rubbing under running water, rubbing vigorously and using a Clean & Clear face wash to wash it:

Removal is easy

Review / Thoughts:

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but, I don't like it.

For reference, I have oily skin, living in humid tropical southeast asia (near equator). Humidity reaches ~90%, UV index ranging 9-11 daily (reaches >12 when it's noon, 11am-1pm). I have very light morning routine: benzoyl peroxide leave on > niacinamide serum (water weight) > Lits Moist Lotion (liquidy toner) > sunscreen.

The Keep Cool Bamboo Sun Essence feels heavy and suffocating on my oily skin. It actually made my face sweat. It is pretty thick, thicker than Purito Centella Unscented in texture. The Purito Centella Unscented (my post about it here) also has heavy feeling on my skin, but this Keep Cool even more so. At least the Purito Centella Unscented never triggers facial sweating (I sweat easily).

This Keep Cool Sun Essence formula is very similar with Hyggee Sun Relief Moisturizer (which I have tried too, my post about it here). Keep Cool is less heavy than Hyggee Sun Relief Moisturizer in terms of texture and feel on the skin.

The Keep Cool Sun Essence definitely has more matte finish than the Purito Centella Unscented, but it's not like Australian Gold Tinted Mineral kinda of matte (or Skinfood Sunflower No Sebum gel - my post here, the most matte sunscreen I ever tried) that is totally dry touch on me.

It doesn't pill on reapplication too, so it's a plus.

Its heaviness is not something I am willing to tolerate especially for non water resistant sunscreen. It's pricey, I got it for S$28.50 for 50ml; in comparison, I can get Purito Centella Unscented for S$15ish for 60ml). Bear in mind, I'm someone who is willing to splurge on good sunscreen. I use the tiinyyy 30g Biore UV Control Base sunscreen on face, 60ml pricey Anessa for my BODY. And I actually find Keep Cool price is unacceptable for what it is.

Overall, it's good for someone who struggles to wear sunscreen.

Allegedly they claim to have PPD32, whether you want to believe it or not, it's up to you. I see it as PA++++ regardless.

I don't wear non water resistant sunscreen outside anyway as they melt off the moment I step out the house with our kind of weather, and being a sweaty person doesn't help haha. I will finish this tube up on my body unfortunately, it's sticky on my neck fold for whatever reason.

About UV camera

Disclaimer: I only use this to see if a sunscreen disperses an even layer (or patchy and spotty); and if I miss out a spot during application. It's not by all means to measure the sunscreen protection level. Got mine from sunscreenr.com. It's compatible with android phone.
