I was actually going to throw this into the trash bin. Suddenly I thought: let's do one last test using UV camera. (The next one to throw is EVY Kids Mousse; I hate it so much until I don't know if I even want to make a post of it lol).

UV Filters: Tinosorb M, Tinosorb S, Uvinul A Plus, Avobenzone

Special note: has strong fragrance and lingers whole day

Preparation

So, this is an impromptu test, so please pardon my messy format.

Initial Application

Initial application under UV camera

As you can see the white cast is intense. This is how it looks after 1 hour

After letting it set for 1 hours - still shiny and white

Rubbing under Running Water

It claims to be water resistant, but in my experience this sunscreen rubbed off very easily so I just gently rubbed it (like washing our hands) under running water

Not surprised, the sunscreen faded significantly vs the undisturbed swatch (wrist area).

Removal with foaming body wash

I tried with my foaming body wash from Shokubutsu. It removed most of the sunscreen but I can see still a hint of sunscreen there

Washed with Shokubutsu body wash

Removal with DHC Cleansing Oil

Of course, it can remove the sunscreen completely.

Reviews / Thoughts:

Back to this Avene. So as you can see it has white cast. It's unwearable on me. I need to use foundation to tone down the white cast; I usually use powder foundation; it makes me look cakey. I usually use 3 pumps of it on my face. Another 3 pumps for my neck. On the box, it said to use 6 pumps for face and neck (screenshot here).

The pump mechanism is a bit flawed on mine. It doesn't consistently pump out the same amount. Not sure if it's just a faulty pump.

The fragrance is very strong and lingers whole day. This one remains greasy and shiny, but SO much better than the Avene dry touch fluid version (this one has no fragrance. product page here).

The Cleanance version doesn't pill as much. The Avene Dry Touch Fluid version however balled up SO much, never actually 'sets' (I tried to rub after waiting 30 mins, and the whole sunscreen layer moved).

I don't have much to say really, I don't like this. It's going into the bin. I can't pass it to my friends as they have deeper complexion than me, and have much lower tolerance on sunscreen texture haha.

For reference, I have oily skin, living in humid tropical southeast asia. Humidity ~96%; UV index ranging 9-11 on average; hits 12 on 11am-1pm+.

In case you are wondering, the white cast level on this is sliiightly lower if you compared to A-derma Protect AD; but it is similar to A-derma Protect AC. Nevertheless, they are still too white for me.

Both of brands are under Fabre-Pierre, so they use same exact filters. I have thrown away those 2 A-derma as well so I can't make post of them. To me, they feel basically the same. The fragrance on A-derma smells nicer for my nose though. A-derma has better value if I'm not mistaken (the A-derma AD is 200ml). A-derma AD does dry/set over the time though, to a dry touch finish. But the pilling issue exists on all 4 products.

I think Ultrasun Extreme white cast is more than this, though I no longer have it to compare side by side.

So there you have it. Time to throw this sunscreen into the bin...

About UV camera

Disclaimer: I only use this to see if a sunscreen disperses an even layer (or patchy and spotty); and if I miss out a spot during application. It's not by all means to measure the sunscreen protection level. Got mine from sunscreenr.com. It's compatible with android phone.
